Welcome to the SEARCH study homepage!

SEARCH is a large, randomised, clinical trial investigating the effects of more intensive versus standard cholesterol-lowering, and of homocysteine-lowering using B vitamins in people who have had a heart attack. It is being run by CTSU which is a department within Oxford University.

This website is primarily for dissemination of the results. However, here is a brief non-technical summary of the study.

The study was started in 1998 and final follow-up assessments were completed between October 2007 and June 2008. Results are to be announced publicly at the American Heart Association meeting in New Orleans, USA on 9 November 2008. When they are available there will be a link here to our results page that will take you to them.

We also provide here some more trial-related documents which may be of special interest to those professionally involved with studies such as SEARCH.

If you have any comments about or problems with our website, please don't hesitate to .
